In 2011 we supported the recruitment of a new Country Director in Ghana for OAfrica.
Areas of work include developing Vision, Mission, Values and Strategy, Team Building with Fundraisers in Europe and operations in Ghana, recruitment of key personnel, and annual performance reviews.
The challenge was creating an induction process which allowed her to start leading with authority having taken over this role from the founder.
We created a 4-day workshop which involved all the staff and was led by the new Director, and which was designed and facilitated by Norscat.
In this workshop we created a complete process map of the care process from how children come into OAfrica to how they finally exit the care and support process. This process had multiple benefits:
- It created a single agreed process for how things were done
- It showed the new director what that process was
- It showed which members of staff were very clear about the process and which ones were not and needed training or support
- It highlighted each point where a management decision or intervention was required
- It highlighted any area where there was a lack of clarity which needed to be fixed
- It created an ideal training tool for new staff and an ongoing guide for all staff
At the end of the workshop the new director had all the information required and a complete perspective to step into the role.
Norscat believes our goal in life is to create a peaceful, balanced, and harmonious life.
We also believe that life should be fun and enjoyable. So, a balanced life is one in which we divide our time between our own personal development, having fun and supporting others in their own personal development and in having fun.
In this regard we split our time between paid work with commercial organisations and doing pro-bono work with Charities, NGOs, and Governments.
Other examples of pro-bono work:
- Design and deliver a workshop to review the progress on the Care Reform Initiative (The Care Reform Initiative was a multi-year initiative to change the Government policy from one that supported orphanages and institutional care for them, to one of ensuring that all children grow up in Family environments)
- Design and delivery of a workshop to review and refine the newly developed adoption and foster care guidelines for the Department of Social Welfare
